Eye Exam and Glasses Cape Coral
Elmquist Eye Group provides your entire family in Cape Coral and Fort Myers with thorough eye exams and glasses using some of the most advanced ophthalmic instruments currently available.
Dr. E. Trevor Elmquist, his partner, Dr. Kate Wagner, and their associates, Dr. Nina Burt and Dr. Sarah Eccles-Brown provide a wide range of eye care services to everyone in your family, from children to adults.
Dr. Elmquist is an experienced board certified ophthalmologist who has been selected as one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. based on the nominations of his peers. Dr. Eccles-Brown is also a board certified ophthalmologist. Drs. Wagner and Burt are skilled board certified optometrists.
Many eye and vision problems have no symptoms, so periodic exams are an important part of maintaining healthy vision. Adults between the ages of 18 and 60 should have routine eye exams every two years, and those 61 and older should have them every year.
A comprehensive eye exam includes a number of tests and procedures to evaluate the health of your eyes and the quality of your vision. These tests range from simple ones, like reading an eye chart, to complex tests, such as using a high-powered lens to examine the health of the tissues inside of your eyes.
Your eye doctor will place eye drops in your eyes so that he/she can see the entire inside of your eye. The drops enlarge your pupils and cause them to open wider (dilate). This gives the doctor a better view of the lens, optic nerve, macula and retina, much like opening a door to see inside a room instead of looking through the keyhole.
Full-Service Optical Boutique
If it’s determined that you need glasses, the knowledgeable opticians in our Optical Boutique have many decades of experience and can assist you in selecting just the right frame and lenses from a wide variety of brands.
We offer Visioffice, the revolutionary measuring system that takes precise eye rotation, head posture, eye position, visual behavior, and frame measurements, and demonstrates lens enhancement features to help you select the right frames. The state-of-the-art system also lets you see yourself in new glasses before you buy!
Lens options include single vision lenses (with one focus area), bifocal lenses (with two focus areas and a visible line across the lens), trifocal lenses (with three focus areas and a visible line across the lens), and progressive lenses.
Our Varilux Progressives provide you with near vision, intermediate vision and distance vision. There is no line across the lens, and these true “multi-focal” lenses may be the closest thing to your natural vision.
Individuals who work with computers for long periods may appreciate our freeform lenses called Shamir Computer and Shamir WorkSpace lenses. They are custom-designed for the work environment and can provide you with crisp, clear vision.
If you prefer contact lenses, we have a wide selection available including disposables, torics (used to correct astigmatism), monovision, bifocal and rigid gas permeable lenses. Once you are an established contact lens patient with Elmquist Eye Group, you can order your contact lenses online for home delivery.
