Consider the Shape of Your Face
The frames you wear can say a lot about your personality. If you’ve been thinking about changing your eyewear style, we can help you decide which frames may look best on your face based on its shape.
- Round Face: The round face is one of the most common shapes, and the right eyeglass frames can help balance out the roundness. Rectangular and square shaped glasses are usually your best bet because they tend to be wider than your face and will make it appear slimmer and longer. Avoid round frames, rimless frames, and small frames that will make your face look even rounder.
- Oval Face: Choosing frames for an oval shaped face should be fairly easy because you can wear just about any style as long as the frames are properly sized. The best choices are square or rectangular and wider than the broadest part of your face. Avoid oversized glasses that cover up too much of your face or very round ones that will throw off the natural symmetry between your forehead, cheeks and chin.
- Square Face: Square faces need some roundness to balance them out. Oval or round frames can balance out your angular features and make your face look slimmer. Choosing frames that sit high on the bridge of your nose can also help. Avoid boxy eyeglass frames with straight lines and corners that will draw more attention to your angular features and add bulkiness to your face.
- Heart-Shaped Face: If you have a wider, broader forehead and a narrower jawline and chin, you are among the many people with heart shaped faces. To balance out your face, look for frames that are wider than your forehead, have low-set temples or those with heavier bottom frames. Avoid any style or color that accentuates your forehead, including frames with embellished tops or temples.
