Fort Myers ophthalmologist Dr. Trevor Elmquist presented an educational seminar on ocular emergencies to third-year medical students at Gulf Coast Hospital on Oct. 30. Dr. Elmquist has practiced ophthalmology for more than 15 years and specializes in all aspects of eye care.

Elmquist discussed diagnosis and emergency treatment procedures that give physicians the best chance to save patients’ vision in the event of serious vision threatening changes.

“There are many varieties of eye emergencies,” says Elmquist. “All ocular emergencies need fast action and proper treatment and referral. This lecture was meant to prepare students for the types of eye emergencies they’ll see in an emergency room.”
