Thanks to the all-laser LASIK technique, the preferred LASIK method of the refractive surgeons at Elmquist Eye Group, the doctor can create a very precise corneal flap using cool laser energy from a Femtosecond laser beam.  We believe this method offers our patients an unprecedented level of safety, comfort and precision. Frequently Asked Questions about All-Laser LASIK Surgery

  • Am I a candidate for all-laser LASIK surgery? Patients who are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism can most likely be treated with all-laser LASIK or another of our laser techniques. The only way to know which procedure may be best for your unique eyes is to schedule an evaluation with the specialists at Elmquist Eye Group.
  • Is LASIK painful? Anesthetizing eye drop are used during surgery, so it is not painful. Some people feel a little pressure during the brief (15 to 30 minute) surgery, but are pleasantly surprised to find that it is quick and painless. After surgery, your eyes may feel a little scratchy or dry, and your vision may not be completely clear. These are normal, temporary symptoms and will typically disappear within a few days.
  • Can both eyes be done at the same time? The state-of-the-art all-laser LASIK technology allows both eyes to be treated in the same surgery session, one right after the other.
  • How soon will I be able to resume my normal activities? Your doctor will schedule your first post-op appointment on the day after your LASIK surgery to check your vision and ensure that your corneas are healing properly. In most cases, you will then be able to drive and resume your normal daily activities.
