How Blepharoplasty Improves the Signs of Aging

Your eyes have a big impact on the appearance of the rest of your face. Sagging eyelids can make you look tired and older than you feel. A younger-looking face, on the other hand, can boost your self-esteem and self-confidence.

Depending on the extent of the surgery, blepharoplasty can reduce under-eye bags, sagging upper lids, and puffiness around the eyes. This opens up the appearance of the eyes and makes you look more awake and refreshed. It can also reduce wrinkles and creases, and can minimize the appearance of dark circles under the eyes.

Will Blepharoplasty Rid Me of Crow’s Feet?

Blepharoplasty is designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and lower lid areas only. It is not designed to remove wrinkles at the outer corners of the eye (i.e. crow’s feet) or sagging brows.

Who are Good Candidates for Blepharoplasty?

The best candidates for blepharoplasty are men and women who have healthy facial tissue and muscles and realistic expectations from surgery. Most patients are over 35 years of age, but if your droopy eyelids are hereditary, you may decide to have eyelid surgery at a younger age.

Is Recovery Lengthy?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort after blepharoplasty. There may be some swelling and/or bruising that lasts for 7 to 10 days. Although you can usually resume your normal routine within a few days, it is wise to avoid strenuous activities for a few weeks.
